First Visit (initial consultation)
After filling out initial paper work giving us some background information about your health history and reasons for seeking an appointment with us, we have you fill out a short questionnaire on an ipad. This helps us determine your current state of spinal health and function.
To find out if we can help.
To find out if we can help you, we ask questions and listen. On your first visit we will sit down with you and discuss your current health situation to assess whether you are a good candidate for Chiropractic care.
To further find out more on your current level of spinal function, we conduct a very thorough Spinal Health Assessment (SHA). This includes some functional movement testing, range of motion testing, strength testing i.e. grip strength and palpation. From these findings we may feel that getting further information such as an x-ray may help us in determining the best direction for your care.
** If we require you to get x-rays, we send to local imaging centres, who bulk bill (cost fully covered through medicare). We typically do not require x-rays when working on children.
Depending on your presentation, care may start on this visit, although in some cases the results from further tests are required before care can begin.
You should allow 45-60 minutes for your first visit.
Second Visit (report of findings)
We’ll tell you what we found and answer your questions.
During your second visit we will go through any tests such as x-rays which were ordered.
By the end of this visit we will have told you what we have found, what we can do to help, how long it may take and how much it will cost. Our practice enjoys high levels of patient satisfaction because we explain everything in advance.
You should allow 20-30 minutes for this visit.
Regular visits
A typical visit will be much shorter, but just as important!
Where the rubber meets the road
Your care will involve spinal adjustments – these are gentle and specific movements to the spine and are performed differently depending on your age and type of spinal problem.
Most follow-up visits only take about 10 minutes. We respect your time and in most cases will see you at, or very close, to your scheduled appointment time.
