Over the past couple of decades we have seen a lot of changes in the approach to birthing and pregnancy. We have seen the emergence of birthing suites, “shared care”, community midwifery programs all aimed at creating a better environment and ideally a better outcome.
We have also seen a more pro-active approach by women, also aiming for a better outcome, by utilising a number of techniques to optimise the function of their body, both prior to getting pregnant (i.e. preconception programs) and during pregnancy.
Physiotherapy, yoga, Pilates, water based exercise programs, acupuncture and chiropractic have all become popular choices for women, utilised throughout pregnancy.
At Alpine Chiropractic, we have worked with hundreds of women giving helpful advice and adjustments through the preconception stage and through pregnancy.
Over the 40 week duration of pregnancy, the woman’s body goes through quite a transformation to accommodate the growth of the baby inside. It makes sense that a better functioning spinal system will better be able to adapt to the changes that occur in the body during pregnancy.
